STS’ Centurion Large Area Inductively Coupled Plasma system has been developed to provide the thin film head industry with an air bearing etch system capable of offering the lowest cost per headbar production solution. This is readily achieved as the system combines the attributes of large batch size (handling up to 400mm carriers) with high etch rates. In addition, the system supports STS’ new DTx technology which provides depth targetting to yield the lowest etch depth variation in terms of total population uniformity. Now production proven for etching MR and GMR devices, the Centurion system offers unparalleled process capability for current and future air bearing designs.
